Smiggin Holes

Smiggin Holes is a ski resort and a resort in the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales , Australia , located in the Snowy River Shire is. The resort is mainly visited in winter. It is located in Kosciuszko National Park and is administered by the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change . Smiggin Holes can be reached on a street. Since vehicles cannot be parked there at night in winter, there is a free transfer.

Smiggin Holes is one of the four holiday villages in the Perisher ski resort. It is at an altitude of 1,680 meters.

The name Smiggin Holes is of Scottish origin. Hundreds of cattle, licking the salt placed by the ranchers at this place, formed hollows with their hooves called the smiggin holes . The area has been used for skiing since 1939, when a café was built to feed skiers on the way to Charlotte Pass and Mount Kosciuszko .
