The Smotrych ( Russian and Ukrainian Смотрич , Polish Smotrycz ) is a left tributary of the Dniester in the Ukrainian Oblast of Khmelnytskyi .
The Smotrytsch rises at Rajkivtsi (Райківці), flows through the Podolian Plate in a southerly direction, passes the cities of Horodok and Kamyanets-Podilskyj and flows into the Dniester at Ustja .
The Smotrych has a length of 168 km. It drains an area of 1800 km². The river is mainly fed by the snowmelt . 21 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 4 m³ / s. There are 7 smaller hydropower plants with associated reservoirs along the river. Its lower reaches is one of the Ramsar areas in Ukraine .
