Mühlenberg nature reserve (Brilon)

The Mühlenberg nature reserve with a size of 16.7 hectares is located east of Hoppecke in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . The entire NSG belongs to the FFH area of ​​the Diemel and Hoppecke water system (DE 4617-302).

Area description

The NSG is the summit of the Mühlenberg with the beech forest . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

In the NSG, the beech forest is to protect with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
