The Ringelnbusch nature reserve with a size of 2.5 hectares is located northeast of Scharfenberg in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau .

Area description

The NSG is a transitional moor with pipe grass and bristle grass lawns and rush-rich small sedge swamp. On the western and northern edges, hedges belong to the NSG.

Protection purpose

As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”. The protection purpose is in particular the protection of a transitional moor with rare and endangered animal and plant species.
