Middle Hoppecketal nature reserve
The nature reserve Mittleres Hoppecketal with a size of 46.6 hectares lies between Brilon-Wald and Hoppecke in the urban area of Brilon and consists of two parts. The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . The NSG belongs to the FFH area of the Diemel and Hoppecke water system (DE 4617-302).
Area description
The NSG is the Hoppecke river with its floodplain in this area.
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the Hoppecke and its floodplain. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
