The Feldberg nature reserve (identification HSK-211 ) with a size of 5.1 hectares is located southwest of Thülen in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . To the west is the Feldberg nature reserve of the same name (Brilon, HSK-512) with a size of 1.74  ha , which was identified by the district in 2008 with the Brilon plateau landscape plan . Directly to the south, the Königswiese nature reserve also borders the NSG. It is one of 31 nature reserves in Brilon, which belong to the group of limestone peaks with special prohibitions. In the databases of the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection North Rhine-Westphalia (LANUV) and Federal Office for Nature Conservation (BfN), this NSG is listed under the Feldberg <LP Hoppecketal> nature reserve (identification HSK-211) .

Area description

The NSG is the eastern part of the Feldberg hilltop . In the NSG there is only grassland; this also includes grassland and some trees.

Protection purpose

Protection of the lean grassland and its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.

Prohibitions

In addition to the normal prohibitions in nature reserves, the NSG Feldberg and the other 30 Brilon limestone peaks have additional prohibitions. It is forbidden to fertilize, roll and drag the limestone peaks. No more than two livestock units per hectare may graze at the same time. Furthermore, mowing is only permitted from July 1st of each year.
