Brummerhagen

The nature reserve Brummerhagen with a size of 43.87 hectares is located northeast of Scharfenberg in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau .

Area description

The NSG consists of two oak forests on the ridge of the Brummerhagen. There are also alder and moor birch quarries in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the oak forests, alder and moor birches. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
