Querbruch source area nature reserve

The nature reserve Querbruch-Quellbereich with a size of 6.79 ha is located north of Esshoff in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau . The NSG goes to the city limits of Olsberg .

Area description

The NSG is wooded source areas. The forest is a quarry forest. Mainly red alder breaks are found . There are also morbrich quarries and red spruce areas on boggy, peat moss raked soils. In the NSG there are also wet fallow land, wet heathland and ponds.

Protection purpose

In the NSG, these wooded spring areas are to be protected with their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
