Lawrence David Hill (born September 16, 1987 ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Hill turned pro and initially played in Mexico and South Korea before coming to Israel after a season in the NBA Development League . Since the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 Hill played in Germany for the first division club Artland Dragons until 2015 .

Career

Hill graduated from high school in Glendale, Arizona , where he was named the best basketball player of all schools in the US state for "Gatorade Player of the Year" in 2005. To study Hill went to Stanford University in the Californian town of the same name , where he played for four years from 2005 for the university team Cardinal in the Pacific-10 Conference of the NCAA . After participating and an early elimination in the National Invitation Tournament 2006 Hill qualified with this team in 2007 and 2008 for the national NCAA finals tournament . After a first round defeat a year earlier, they reached the round of 16 in 2008 Sweet Sixteen , which was lost to the Longhorns of the University of Texas .

After Hill had not been selected in the NBA Draft 2009 by any club of the highest endowed professional league NBA , Hill still played in the NBA Summer League for the Golden State Warriors . When he did not make the leap into a final season squad there, he was active in the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) for the "Halcones Rojos" ( German  red falcons ) from Veracruz in the 2009/10 season . However, they lost the play-off final series for the championship against regional rivals and defending champions Halcones UV from Xalapa . In 2011 Hill played in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) for the Orions from Daegu . For the team, which was only bottom of the table in the closed, ten-team league at the end of the season, Hill completed 15 more appearances in championship games.

In the 2011/12 season Hill played in the D-League for the Texas Legends from Frisco (Texas) . After four missions he got a contract in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings , where he remained without use. After the contract was terminated, he returned to the D-League, where he continued to play on the northeast coast for the Maine Red Claws, which, however, again missed the play-offs of the D-League. In the 2012/13 season Hill then played in the Israeli Ligat ha'Al for Hapoel from Cholon . In the European club competition EuroChallenge 2012/13 they reached the intermediate round of the best 16 teams, in which, however, they remained without a win. In the national championship they only reached ninth place in the main round table, which was not enough to move into the play-offs for the title. For the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 Hill was committed by the German first division team Artland Dragons from Quakenbrück , with whom he was eliminated early in the 2013/14 Eurocup . In the national championship they came as seventh in the main round in the play-offs, in which the Dragons were able to dethrone defending champion Brose Baskets in the first round , who had previously won the championship four times in a row. In the play-off semi-final series, however, they lost after a hard fight in four games against cup winners ALBA Berlin .

After the voluntary withdrawal of the Artland Dragons after the 2015/2016 season, Hill moved to France to STB Le Havre .
