from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bibertal nature reserve with a size of 17.69 hectares is located north of Scharfenberg in the urban area of Brilon and is right on the border with the Soest district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau .

Area description

The NSG is about the valley of the beavers (Möhne) and parts of the surrounding area. In addition to the Biberbach, the NSG usually only a few meters away from the stream. In addition, the moor birch quarry forest Eckbruch , an alder quarry , an oak - red beech forest with extensive seepage springs and a small sedge-rich transition moor are included in the NSG. There are also many red spruce stands in the NSG .

Protection purpose

In the NSG, the Biberbach and the forest there are to be protected. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
