The Lühlingsbachtal nature reserve with a size of 34.4 hectares is located northeast of Alme in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . The NSG is partly part of the FFH area Leiberger Wald (DE 4517-303). The eastern border of the NSG is also the border to the Paderborn district . The upper reaches of the Lühlingsbach and the floodplain to the east of the stream were designated by the Paderborn district in the Büren-Wünnenberg landscape plan as the Lühlingsbach-Nettetal nature reserve. Behind the floodplain in the Lühlingsbach-Nettetal nature reserve, the Leiberger Wald nature reserve borders directly . The NSG borders the B 480 in the north. To the west is mostly the landscape protection area open spaces in the Lühlingsbachtal .

Area description

The NSG is the course of the Lühlingsbach in the Hochsauerlandkreis with the floodplain . The Lühlingsbach flows into the Nette river within the NSG . The area is mainly used as grassland. In addition to individual arable land, there were also small riparian forest areas in the NSG. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the rivers Lühlingsbach and Nette with their floodplains and their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.

As an additional requirement compared to other protected areas in the landscape plan area, it was stipulated that arable land in the NSG should be converted back into grassland .
