Hardtkopfsiepen nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hardtkopfsiepen nature reserve with a size of 0.9 ha is located northeast of Alme in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG consists of two headwaters of a nameless stream. The southern arm of the spring is covered with red alder forest. The northern arm of the spring is a wet pasture rich in rushes. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the spring biotopes. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
