Habuchen nature reserve
The Habuchen nature reserve with a size of 2.3 hectares is located east of Brilon Forest in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan .
Area description
The NSG is a broken red alder . The alders are partly multi-stemmed and overgrown with epiphytic lichens. Occasionally moor birches can be found in the forest. A Rotfichtenbestand part of the NSG. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
