The Eschker Holz nature reserve with a size of 43.5  hectares is located northeast of Madfeld in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is a forest. In addition to red beech and red spruce, there are also red alder stocks with sometimes larger peat moss layers .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
