The wet grassland nature reserve at Haus Hubertus, with a size of 1.7 hectares, is located east of Gudenhagen in the urban area of Brilon an der Landstrasse. The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . The NSG borders directly on federal highway 251 to the west . The former Gasthof St. Hubertus borders in the north.

Area description

The NSG is a grassland area on a slope slightly sloping to the southwest. The grassland is partly moderately lean grassland and partly swelling moist and wet grassland. A large, seeping Grosseggenried in the south of the area also belongs to the NSG. The Grosseggenried is criss-crossed by old trenches. A concrete-paved courtyard of Haus Hubertus, which is surrounded by fruit trees, belongs to the NSG.

Endangered plant species occur in the area. According to the LANUV database , species such as field scabious , burning buttercup , thorny restraint , real meadowsweet , flutter bulrush , flood swaths , forest ledges , forest angelica , limb bulrush , large meadow button , nodding thistle , horse mint , Red ostrich grass , narrow-leaved willowherb , swamp thistle , swamp sedge , swamp forget-me-not and meadow knotweed .

The NSG is grazed with cattle.

Protection purpose

In the NSG, the grassland should protect. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
