from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Grüberg / Thülener Stein with a size of 25.4  hectares is located east of Thülen in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . Most of the NSG relates to the FFH area Forests and Sources of the Almetal (DE 4518-303).

Area description

The NSG is a red beech forest with limestone rocks. The specialty in the NSG is an approximately 20 m long, 2 m wide and 15 m deep crevice. In the NSG there are remains of a former calcite mine . Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
