Nature reserve An der Rösenbeck Castle
The nature reserve An der Rösenbeck Castle with a size of 8.1 hectares is located southeast of Rösenbeck in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan . The NSG and the White Woman / Rösenbecker Burg nature reserve form the FFH area beech forests and rubble dumps on the "White Woman" (DE 4518-303).
Area description
The NSG is a former diabase break in the south and a heather with bristle grass in the north. Rare animal and plant species are found in the NSG.
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the quarry and grassland with their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
