history
Many places in the Schönbacher Ländchen were founded by the Waldsassen monastery , which Rüdiger von Sparneck acquired in 1348 .
Along with Maria Kulm, Schönau was the most important place of pilgrimage in the Egerland with its Jakobikirche. The place name is derived from its location "on the beautiful Au".
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Graslitz district .
Until 1976 Sněžná was a separate municipality, but was then incorporated into the city of Kraslice.
