The Sneschnaja ( Russian Сне́жная ) is a tributary of Lake Baikal in the Russian Republic of Buryatia in Siberia .
The Sneschnaja rises in the Khamar-Daban mountain range south of Lake Baikal. It flows in the upper reaches to the east through the mountains. In the lower reaches it turns to the northeast. The last kilometers before it flows into Lake Baikal near the village Wydrino, the Snezhnaya forms the border with Irkutsk Oblast . The river has a length of 173 km. The catchment area covers 3020 km². The mean water flow 5 km above its mouth is 48 m³ / s. The Sneschnaya is a popular tourist destination and is suitable for kayaking .
