Snorre Kirk (* 1981 in Norway ) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( drums , composition ).

Live and act

Kirk grew up in Norway and then moved to Copenhagen, where he lives today, to study at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory . First he worked for Malene Mortensen , from 2007 he also became known as a member of the trio of Magnus Hjorth . In 2012 he made his debut with the concept album "Blues Modernism", which contained blues in a contemporary guise. For the album mentioned he received the annual award for the best album in Denmark from Jazz Spezial magazine . He was also nominated twice for the Danish Music Prize. The subsequent album Europa paved the way for Kirk to perform at renowned festivals; He subsequently played at the North Sea Jazz Festival , the Art of Swing Festival in Kansas City and Pori Jazz in Finland. Three more albums under his own name followed, most recently Beat (2018) and Tangerine Rhapsody with Stephen Riley in 2019 .

Kirk can also be heard on albums by Sidsel Storm and Kristin Korb , the Fredrik Kronkvist Sextet, Lasse Mørck Quartet and Mads Tolling Quartet. He also accompanied Mads Kjølby, Diane Schuur and Eric Reed .
