Fredrik Kronkvist (born July 25, 1975 in Trelleborg) is a Swedish jazz musician ( alto saxophone , flute , composition ).

Act

Kronkvist, who has performed with Cuban musicians in Sweden since 1997 and toured with Calixto Ovied in 1999, graduated from Malmö College of Music with a Masters degree in 2000 . The following year he became a member of the quintet of Anders Bergcrantz , with whom he performed at the JazzFest Berlin . He presented his own quartet at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival . He presented albums in various line-ups, initially in 2002 with Jan Lundgren's trio . In 2020 he released Kronicles, the 15th album under his own name. He was also part of the Un X Pected Brazilian Project ( Unite , 2011). He can also be heard on albums by Joe Spinaci and the Brookolino Orchestra , the Martin Sjöstedt Band, Per-Oscar Nilsson Group, René Sandoval 4, Scan-Am Quartet, The Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Urban Elements and A Bossa Elétrica .

  • 2002 - Jazzkatten as young musician of the year
  • 2003 - First prize at the Belgian Jazz Hoeilaart International competition
  • 2010 - Gold pin of the Jazz i Malmö association
  • 2016 - Nominated for a Swedish Grammis for the album Monk Vibes
