Morten Toftgård Ramsbøl (* 1970 in Aarhus ) is a Danish jazz musician (double bass).

Career

Ramsbøl studied at Det Jyske Conservatory of Music and took private lessons with Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen , Christian McBride , Jens Jefsen , Peter Vuust and Jesper Lundgaard .

Ramsbøl led his own band, which released the album Short Stay in 2002 and was a member of Klüvers Big Band , where he performed with soloists such as Veronica Mortensen and Kurt Elling . He also worked with Sinn Eeg , Jim Rotondi , Olaf Polziehn , Antonio Sánchez , Cæcilie Norby , Scott Hamilton , Jeff Tain Watts , Morten Lund , Mads Bærentzen, Eric Alexander , Kristian Leth, Jeff Ballard , Jacob Karlzon and Lars Jansson . Furthermore, in 2010 he was part of the quartet of Didier Lockwood and Niels Lan Doky and played the album Playlist in the trio of Søren Møller . He also went on tour with the Gino Vannelli European Quartet and the Benny Green & Ulf Wakenius Special Quartet . In his discography, Tom Lord lists 15 recordings by Ramsbøl between 1999 and 2019 in the field of jazz.

Ramsbøl became Professor of Double Bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in October 2013 (as successor to Wayne Darling ) .
