Kristin Ann Korb (born October 29, 1969 in Billings , Montana ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass , vocals ) with roots in mainstream jazz .

Live and act

Basket, which played music from an early age with her brothers and with them a rock & roll band formed, initially studied music education at the Eastern Montana College , then from 1992 to 1994 classical double bass at the University of California, San Diego in Bertram Turetzky to to study. Then she took private lessons from Ray Brown (1994-2002), Jeff Hamilton and John Clayton .

Korb, whose “clear, cool and almost vibrato-free voice” was discovered by Turetzky, was the head of the jazz course at Central Washington University in Ellensburg from 2000 , where she also directed the large-format Jazz Band 1 . In 2002 she moved to Los Angeles to perform nationwide from there. She also taught at Azusa Pacific University and the University of Southern California , where she directed training in jazz singing. On a European tour she fell in love with a Dane; since 2011 she lives in Copenhagen.

With her current trio, consisting of pianist Magnus Hjorth and drummer Snorre Kirk , she introduced herself to Jazz Baltica and Nordischer Klang in 2015 . She also goes on tour with pianist Dena DeRose and Lines for Ladies featuring Sheila Jordan . She continued to work with musicians such as Anthony Davis , Ray Brown, Jan Lundgren , Clark Terry , Bill Mays , Bobby Shew , Jeff Hamilton, Harry Allen , Carl Allen , Joe LaBarbera , Alex Riel , Aaron Serfaty, Otmaro Ruiz, Mary Fettig and Jacob Fischer . She can also be heard on albums by Bertram Turetzky / Mike Wofford and Kim Richmond .
