So Many Roads (1965–1995) is a five-CD box set by the band Grateful Dead .

history

So Many Roads (1965–1995) is officially a collection of live pieces, but also contains some studio recordings that have not been released before.

Like the Dick's Picks series, So Many Roads (1965-1995) belongs to the so-called Vaults series, in which earlier archive material is reissued or released for the first time. The recordings used were made between November 3, 1965 and July 1995. The name So Many Roads comes from the song of the same name by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter .

The album is particularly intended to appeal to fans who belong to the second generation, who are fans of the band from the 1970s and 1980s. Rare songs were selected for this, which were created during recordings for the Autumn Records label in 1965, but were never released, or outtakes from studio albums such as Workingman's Dead or American Beauty .

The recorded songs are arranged in chronological order, with each CD containing songs from a specific period. The first CD contains songs from 1965 to 1970, the second from 1969 to 1974, the third from 1974 to 1984, the fourth from 1985 to 1990 and the fifth CD from 1991 to 1995, so that songs from 30 years of band history were used.

criticism

In general, So Many Roads (1965-1995) received good ratings. The album received four and a half stars from All Music Guide and four out of five stars from both The Music Box and Rolling Stone .
