Bob Bralove (* 1955 in Manhattan , New York ) is an American musician , artist and producer who is best known for his work with the band Grateful Dead .

Bob Bravelove was born in the Manhattan neighborhood of New York City in 1955 and saw the Summer of Love when he was twelve. In Massachusetts he attended Hampshire College, where he studied psychology and composition . Due to illness, he did not finish his studies. In 1975 he moved to San Francisco and attended San Francisco State University , where he continued to study composition. As he was looking for a job, he came into contact with the scene in Silicon Valley , where he found his enthusiasm for PCs and software. He got a job at Osborne Computer Corporation, which developed one of the first portable computers.

Stevie Wonder was one of Osborne Computer's customers and needed a professional to make the stage settings for him. Since Bralove was considered both a computer expert and a connoisseur of music, a contact was established with him. For Wonder, Bob Bralove was supposed to set up the synthesizers and set up the sound system. To do this, Bralove learn to play a keyboard yourself . Bralove worked for Stevie Wonder for eight years and was involved in several albums.

At a Grammy event he met Merl Saunders , who was looking for a TV musician for The New Twilight Zone . Bralove agreed and got to know the band Grateful Dead through it, since Jerry Garcia wrote the theme music in 1985. Garcia was impressed with his technical knowledge and hired him to assist Brent Mydland . The recording of Touch of Gray was the first song Bralove played on. After recording Dylan & The Dead , he accompanied the Dead on a tour. At these shows he began to build up his reputation as a “ MIDI wizard”, as he did for example. B. called the San Francisco Chronicle .

For the Deads he produced a. a. the albums Infrared Roses and Built to Last , he also co-wrote the songs "Picasso Moon", "Way to Go Home", "Easy Answers", "Parallelogram", "Little Nemo in Nightland" and "Sparrow Hawk Row". He was also significantly involved in the "Drums and Space" at the shows.

After the death of Jerry Garcia, he first formed the band Dose Hermanos together with Tom Constanten . But he also took part in Second Sight (with Vince Welnick ) and The Psychedelic Keyboard Trio (together with Constanten and Welnick). All three bands belong to the so-called Grateful Dead family.

In 2007 his first solo album called "Stories in Black and White" was released.

In addition to his musical career, he deals with digital art .
