Sobekhotep V. , also Sebekhotep or Sebekhetep , was an ancient Egyptian king ( Pharaoh ) of the 13th Dynasty ( Second Intermediate Period ), who lived from around 1724 to around 1719 BC. BC or around 1685 to around 1680 BC Ruled.

supporting documents

Sobekhotep V ruled Turin for 4 years, eight months and 29 days , according to the royal papyrus . Perhaps he was the son of Sobekhotep IV , who is named as a prince on an inscription in Wadi el-Hudi . His mother is then possibly Tjan, the wife of Sobekhoteps IV. Sobekhotep V is, apart from the later king lists ( king list of Karnak ), almost only known from scarabs . One notable object with his name, however, is a statue of the ruler. This has been in Berlin for a long time. The inscriptions on the base have broken away so that it was not possible to assign them to a specific ruler. The Egyptologist Kim Ryholt was able to find the part of a statue in Boston that belongs to this statue and bears the name of the ruler, so that the Berlin statue can be assigned to this ruler. The fragment in Boston comes from Kerma , which is where the statue comes from.
