Solbiate ( Lombard : Sulbiaa ) is a fraction and municipality seat of the Italian municipality ( comune ) Solbiate con Cagno in the province of Como , Lombardy region .
geography
The place is about 12 kilometers west-southwest of Como and about 8.5 kilometers east-southeast of Varese in the Italian pre-Alps.
history
Solbiate was an independent municipality until 2018 and merged with the neighboring municipality of Cagno on January 1, 2019 to form the new municipality of Solbiate con Cagno.
traffic
The former State Road 342 (now a provincial road) runs through the village from Bergamo to Varese . The station on the former Como – Varese line was closed in 1966 with the section between Malnate and Grandate .
