Solidarna Polska (German: Solidarisches Poland, “SP” for short) is a conservative party in Poland . It is a spin-off from Law and Justice (PiS), with which it is now working closely again in the form of an alliance.

The official founding of the party took place on March 24, 2012. The party chairman is founder Zbigniew Ziobro .

history

The split was preceded by disputes between the party chairman of the PiS Jarosław Kaczyński and a group around the then EU MEP Zbigniew Ziobro due to another defeat of the PiS in the parliamentary elections on October 9, 2011 .

Ziobro and MEPs Jacek Kurski and Tadeusz Cymański were excluded from the PiS in November 2011 because of their criticism of Kaczyński's leadership style. Thereupon 16 befriended PiS MPs formed their own parliamentary group in protest in order to revoke the exclusions from the party, but were themselves expelled from the party.

In December 2011, the excluded MEPs and one other member left the ECR faction in the European Parliament and joined the clearly Eurosceptic EFD faction .

Five months after being expelled from the party, Ziobro founded the “Solidarna Polska” party in March 2012 and has been its party leader ever since.

In the 2014 European elections, the SP's first election, the party missed out on entry into the EU Parliament.

After a reconciliation exclamation from PiS party leader Kaczynski joined the SP in the summer of 2014 along with PiS and also right Poland Together an agreement providing that all three parties compete in the future as a unified group in the next elections and sharing a presidential candidate in 2015 will support .

In the regional elections at the end of 2014 , according to this agreement, she entered the PiS electoral list and was able to win five seats in the Sejmiks .

In the parliamentary elections in October 2015 , in which this group of three won a government majority, the SP was able to send nine of its own members to the Sejm and two senators to the Senate. These belong to the PiS group. Party chairman Zbigniew Ziobro became the new Minister of Justice in the Szydło cabinet , and later also General Prosecutor.
