The Solo 750 is an open, all-terrain amphibious vehicle . It was manufactured by Solo Kleinmotoren in Sindelfingen. At the rear of the two-seater plastic body is a small, integrated loading area. Due to the arrangement of the six driven wheels, a great ability to creep and off-road is achieved. In the water, propulsion is provided by the coarse, balloon-like low-pressure tires that act like paddle wheels. The Solo is steered by braking the right or left row of wheels.

history

The Solo 750 was presented in 1971. The last year of manufacture was probably 1981. This was the year the vehicle last appeared in the car catalog .

technology

The Solo 750 has a solo two-cylinder two-stroke engine with a displacement of 430 cubic centimeters and an output of 15 kW (20 hp). It drives all wheels via a stepless automatic V-belt transmission. The turning circle is about 3.5 meters. The top speed is 48 km / h (51 km / h). The vehicle is 215 cm long, 140 cm wide and 108 cm high. It weighs 410 kg empty and has a permissible total weight of 600 kg. The fuel tank has a capacity of 24 liters.

particularities

During its construction time in Germany, the Solo 750 was the only 6 × 6 ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) with road approval. According to the manufacturer, 96 vehicles were built. Ten of these were exported to the Middle East, but only eight of them arrived. Two of them disappeared behind the iron curtain during the transport.

Trivia

The Solo 750 is likely to have become known to the television audience mainly because it was used at times by the animal filmmakers Ernst Arendt and Hans Schweiger to film the series Animals in front of the camera .

The vehicle also made an appearance in the film Two great beetles clean up and as a remote-controlled exploration vehicle in the film Stargate , in which Roland Emmerich , the brother of the managing directors of SOLO Kleinmotoren, directed.
