action

The terminally ill loner Jürgen flees the hospital to realize his dream of a last rollercoaster ride in Heide-Park in Soltau . On the way, however, he runs over the dog of the sex thief Marie, who is on the run from one of her customers; Jürgen has no choice but to take her and the dead dog Quentin with him. Marie wants to give Quentin a burial at sea in the North Sea . Finally Jürgen agrees to take her with him to Soltau.

While taking a break, Marie meets 15-year-old Emo Max, who is on a date in Osnabrück , and invites him to come along. Reluctantly, Jürgen agrees.

Max is transferred from his date, however, so the group stays together. Instead of going to Soltau, they now go directly to the sea. Little by little the three different people become friends with each other. Marie learns of Jürgen's fatal illness and begins to understand his strange behavior.

At the seaside, Jürgen finally realizes that his time has come. He sends Marie back to the car to get his Polaroid camera , carries the dead Quentin alone into the water and goes down with him. Marie arrives just in time to photograph what is happening. Max inserts the picture as the last entry in Jürgen's diary.
