Sonda ( Sonda vald ) was a rural municipality in Ida-Viru County in northeast Estonia .
description
The rural parish is about 30 minutes from the town of Rakvere . Their area was 148 km². 966 inhabitants lived on it (as of January 1, 2010).
structure
In addition to the main town of Sonda ( Sonda alevik ), the rural community also included the villages of Erra , Erra-Liiva , Varinurme , Koljala , Nüri , Vainu , Uljaste , Satsu and Ilmaste .
The two oldest places are mentioned in the Liber Census Daniae , Uljaste 1468 and Satsu 1483.
Narrow gauge railway
From 1926 to 1971, a 62.6 km long narrow-gauge railway ran from Sonda to Mustvee , which is now remembered by a memorial stone erected in 1989.
