Soner Yalçın

Soner Yalçın (born January 1, 1966 in Çorum , Turkey ) is a Turkish journalist and publicist . In his books he takes the view that Turkey has been infiltrated by crypto Jews.

Journalistic work

He began his journalistic career in the newspaper Aydınlık . He then worked for the Siyah Beyaz newspaper and for the television channels Show TV and Star TV . He worked for the Sabah newspaper for a while . In 2009 he wrote a Sunday column for the daily newspaper Hürriyet and also worked for the broadcaster CNN Türk . He also works as a consultant for various national and international television series.

In 2007 he founded the online news portal Oda TV with Cüneyt Özdemir .

Yalçın also wrote under the pseudonym Uğur İpek.

Ergenekon investigation

Soner Yalçın was arrested on February 14, 2011 as part of the investigation into the Ergenekon organization . His home and business premises were searched and materials were confiscated. The American ambassador to Turkey at the time, Ricciardone, answered a question about Yalçın's arrest over dinner: “On the one hand, journalists are arrested and, on the other hand, there is talk of freedom of the press. We do not understand these arrests. "

According to a report in the Turkish daily Sözcü , before his arrest, Yalçın was about to publish a new book, for which he had received documents from MPs of the opposition CHP and in which he also wanted to publish new WikiLeaks documents on Turkey. He said the book would have been a bombshell if published.

On December 27, 2012, Yalçın was released from Silivri Detention Center ; Finally, on April 12, 2017, like all other defendants in the Oda TV trial, acquitted of all charges (including membership in a terrorist organization, attempted coup).

Yalçın now writes regularly for the daily Sözcü .
