The State of Song ( Chinese   , Pinyin Sòng , W.-G. Sung ) was a small state in the central region of northern China in the western Zhou Dynasty , the time of the spring and autumn annals and the time of the warring states . Its capital was Shangqiu ( 商丘 ).

It was founded in the 11th century BC after the Duke of Zhou ( 周公 ) suppressed the Wu Geng ( 武庚 ) rebellion .

286 BC BC Song was annexed by Qin .

The philosopher poet Zhuangzi and his friend, the logician Hui Shi , came from here.
