The Sonnleithnersche Salon , which was run in Vienna's Gundelhof from 1815 to 1824 , was the most important musical salon of the early Biedermeier period . Ignaz von Sonnleithner , uncle Franz Grillparzer and friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Joseph Haydns , Ludwig van Beethovens , Antonio Salieris , Joseph Weigls , Joseph von Eyblers and Joseph Preindls , supported the young Franz Schubert in particular , who in the Gundelhof continues the tradition of the Founded the Schubertiaden and premiered numerous works here, such as the Erlkönig . The evenings mostly had a specific theme, with Schubert accompanying the singers, such as Johann Michael Vogl , himself on the piano. Other guests at the Sonnleithner Salon were Caroline Pichler , Franz von Schober and Johann Nepomuk Nestroy .
