Sophie Meister (born November 1, 1981 in Freital ) is a German actress and model .

Life

Sophie Meister was born on November 1st, 1981 in Freital and grew up in East Berlin, where she attended a Russian school for 4 years. As a twelve-year-old she trained intensively in roller skating and took part in national competitions. As a teenager she discovered her love for acting when she stood in front of the camera for the first time for the German television series "Mama ist Impossible". Thanks to Franziska Knuppe , master became a finalist in the Elite Model Contest 2000 at the age of 17. After graduating from high school, she began her international modeling career and worked for well-known fashion magazines such as Vogue , Elle , Marie Claire and high-end fashion brands such as DKNY , Hugo Boss and Giorgio Armani , and Blue Marine . Sophie Meister was not only in front of the camera for photo shoots, but also for numerous commercials and small TV appearances that reawakened her love for the art of acting. She then studied acting under Wolfgang Hosfeld from the Maxim Gorki Theater . In 2005 she moved to NYC to further develop her passion at the Lee Strasberg Institute , the HB Studios and with renowned coach Jack Waltzers , a member of the " Actor's Studio ". With the support of producer and good friend Ben Barenholtz , she shot her first roles in America. She also appeared on stage in 2008 for an off-Broadway play. Five years later, Meister went back to Europe, to Paris. There she has since made films with Jérémie Renier in “ My Way ” and “ Paris Countdown ” with Olivier Marshal and Reda Kateb . She was also seen in TV series such as " Jo " with Jean Reno and the successful French series " Mafiosa ". In 2015 she stood in front of the camera for the US feature film " Frank & Lola " with Michael Shannon and Justin Long . She has been nominated and awarded several times for her excellent acting achievements. She is currently filming a new series in Berlin.
