Sophie Countess von Arnim (born February 21, 1876 in Dresden , † August 17, 1949 in Grainau ) was a German writer.

Life

Sophie Countess von Arnim was born as the daughter of the royal Saxon general of the cavalry retired. D. Franz Graf and Edler Herr zur Lippe-Weißenfeld (1820–1880) and Marie Freiin von Beschwitz (1836–1921) were born. She grew up in Dresden and married in Dresden on September 29, 1902 the Prussian landowners and outdoor nobleman Adolf Count von Arnim (1875-1931), law Knights of St John , Fideikommißherrn the outdoor able Muskau and President of the Automobile Club of Germany . In addition to her duties as a landlady and mother of four children, she began to write in 1931 after her husband's death. She found her fabrics mainly in her home area of Muskau . It described the life and work of the respective lords of Muskau, the Counts of Callenberg , Prince Pückler and the Prince of the Netherlands , the previous owners of Muskau Castle , before the family of Counts von Arnim took over the class, their seat in the Prussian mansion and the castle inherited.

Since she was interested in many things, she also dealt with the romantic painter Carl Gustav Carus , whose biography she wrote. In 1945 she had to leave Muskau during the war; Muskau Castle burned down a few days after the end of the war, and the land and Muskau Park were expropriated.
