The plant genus sorbaria ( Sorbaria ) belongs to the subfamily of spiraeoideae in the family of the rose family (Rosaceae).
description
Sorbaria species are deciduous, mostly tall shrubs with stem-like branches. The bare or hairy bark of the branches is yellow to green when young, later it is dark reddish or yellowish brown. The alternate arranged, large imparipinnate leaves contain seven to 33 pinna leaflet . The leaflets, which are usually double-sawn, are up to 13 cm long. Stipules are present.
Many flowers stand together in 10 to 30 cm long, terminal, paniculate inflorescences . The relatively small, five-fold flowers have a diameter of 5 to 10 mm. The five sepals are also still present on the fruits. The five rounded, white petals are fused at the base. The 20 to 50 stamens are often longer than the petals. The five carpels are only fused at the base and are in an open flower cup.
The style and calyx are still present on the 2.5 to 5 mm long, bald or hairy follicles when they are ripe.
Occurrence
Sorbaria species occur in Central and East Asia, as well as in eastern North America.
The decorative, free-flowering trees can be used as solitary and group shrubs in parks and gardens in the temperate zone .
