Sorgschrofen

The Sorgschrofen is a 1635 meter high mountain in the Allgäu Alps . The Zinken (1613 m) is a secondary peak of the Sorgschrofen .

Its summit is the only land connection between the municipality of Jungholz , which is part of Austria, and the rest of the state of Tyrol . Since the border treaty between Bavaria and Austria of 1844 and a supplementary treaty of 1850, there has been the rare peculiarity at the summit of the Sorgschrofen that four border lines each of two German and Austrian municipalities meet in a quasi- four-country corner :

The Sorgschrofen is popular as a hiking mountain. Mountain hikers can climb the Sorgschrofen in two ways: starting from Jungholz directly to the main summit or from Unterjoch via the Zinken, which is 265 meters southwest of the main summit and is also on the national border. Crossing the ridge to the main summit is reserved for experienced mountain hikers who are absolutely sure-footed and free from giddiness, as the path is marked and partly secured with ropes, but is often very exposed. The trail can be icy well into spring. Then an inspection is not recommended - even for experienced people.
