Sorsum is a northern district of the city of Elze in Lower Saxony .

geography

Sorsum is located near the federal highway 3 on the county road 27, south of the small range of hills Finie.

history

When in 1896 a larger potash deposit was discovered by drilling about 500 meters south of the village, it was expected in Sorsum that the exploitation of these mineral resources would soon begin. The right to dismantle was assigned to the Hohenzollern trade union in Berlin on September 4, 1897. There was no promising dismantling.

On March 1, 1974, Sorsum became one of seven districts of the city of Elze (unitary community Elze) as part of the regional reform, which until then belonged to the district of Springe . The agricultural character has been preserved to this day.

After the school was closed, the building was initially used as a children's play area. Since the conversion to a kindergarten in 1990, 50 children have been looked after there.

In the Feldmarkt, parallel to Wittenburger Strasse, there had been a gas drilling site since the 1970s. This drilling site was dismantled and backfilled in 2012. The former area is now used again as arable land.
