The Later Han ( Chinese  後漢  /  后汉 , pinyin Hou Han , 947 - 950 ) was a very short-lived dynasty of Shato - Turkvolks 947-950, one of the Five Dynasties during the period of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period . It was given its current name later. The dynasty was founded in 947 by Liu Zhiyuan , who defeated the Later Jin Dynasty ( Hou Jin ) and proclaimed himself Emperor of the Later Han Dynasty. Its capital was Bian (today Kaifeng , Henan). The dynasty lasted four years and had two rulers. In 950 it was conquered by the Later Zhou Dynasty ( Hou Zhou ).
