The Sparkasse am Niederrhein is a public-law savings bank based in Moers . Its business area includes the cities of Moers, Neukirchen-Vluyn , Rheinberg and Xanten as well as the communities of Alpen and Sonsbeck . This makes it the largest credit institution in the Wesel district . The full company name according to the commercial register is Sparkasse am Niederrhein - Sparkasse of the Wesel district and the cities of Moers, Neukirchen-Vluyn and Rheinberg .

The legal basis is the Savings Banks Act for North Rhine-Westphalia and the statutes issued by the association assembly of the Sparkassen Zweckverband for the Wesel district and the cities of Moers, Neukirchen-Vluyn and Rheinberg . The organs of the Sparkasse are the Management Board , the Administrative Board and the Credit Committee.

The Wesel district and the city of Moers each hold 30% of the shares in the Zweckverband; the cities of Rheinberg and Neukirchen-Vluyn each have a 20% stake.

The Sparkasse am Niederrhein operates 31 branches and self-service branches, a consulting center ( private banking / real estate) and 57 ATMs. It maintains the densest network for financial services and advice in the Wesel district .

The Sparkasse am Niederrhein reported total assets of EUR 3.461 billion in the 2019 financial year and customer deposits of EUR 2.73 billion. According to the 2019 Sparkasse ranking list, it ranks 120th in terms of total assets. It has 31 branches / self-service locations and employs 625 people. In addition to advice and service on everything to do with the provision of money and credit to the population and the regional economy, the brokerage of insurance and building society contracts and the sale of investment funds are part of their core business. In the network business , Sparkasse am Niederrhein works with the West German state building society (LBS), Provinzial Rheinland Versicherung, DekaBank and Deutsche Leasing AG , among others .

Social Commitment

As a public law institute, Sparkasse am Niederrhein is committed to the common good in its business area. This means targeted promotion of different areas of society: In 2016, the Sparkasse donated around 1.2 million euros from the current budget as well as from the premium savings income and foundation income as donations for social, sporting and cultural purposes. The Sparkasse am Niederrhein and its predecessor institutes have so far set up six foundations. These include the Sparkasse am Niederrhein cultural foundation and the Niederrheinischer Bürger foundation .

history

The Sparkasse am Niederrhein is a special purpose association savings bank that emerged in January 2004 from the merger of the Sparkassen Moers, Neukirchen-Vluyn and Rheinberg. The Gemeindesparkasse Kapellen (now part of Moers) is the oldest of the predecessor institutions that were merged into the Sparkasse am Niederrhein. Between 1844 and 1909 another seven savings banks were established in today's business area. In addition to the Gemeindesparkasse Kapellen (1844) and the Städtische Sparkasse Moers (1845), the Stadtsparkasse Xanten (1855) was also one of the first establishments. Other predecessor institutes are the Städtische Sparkasse Rheinberg (1867), the Gemeindesparkasse Rheinkamp (1905), the Städtische Sparkasse zu Orsoy (1907), the Kreissparkasse Moers (1907) and the Gemeindesparkasse founded in 1909 in Neukirchen which later became Commune-Sparkasse Neukirchen- Vluyn was renamed. After several mergers, the Sparkassen Moers, Neukirchen-Vluyn and Rheinberg still existed from 1977.
