Spencer Le Marchant

Sir Spencer Le Marchant (born January 15, 1931 in Edmonton , London , today: London Borough of Enfield , † September 7, 1986 on the Isle of Wight ) was a British Conservative Party politician who was a member of the House of Commons between 1970 and 1983 ( House of Commons ) was.

Life

Spencer Le Marchant was the eldest of three children of Alfred Gaspard Le Marchant and his wife Turdis Mortensen and a paternal grandson of Brigadier General Edward Thomas Le Marchant, 4th Baronet. After attending the prestigious Eton College he performed military service in the line infantry regiment Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) and was effective January 24, 1950 to lieutenant (Second Lieutenant) transported. In the election on March 31, 1966 , Le Marchant ran for the Conservative Party in the Vauxhall constituency for a seat in the House of Commons, but with 7,645 votes (33.4 percent) was clearly defeated by the long-time constituency holder of the Labor Party , George Strauss , with 15,233 votes (66.6 percent) accounted for. Le Marchant was married to Lucinda Gaye Leveson-Gower since May 5, 1955, daughter of Brigadier General Hugh Nugent Leveson-Gower and his first wife Avril Joy Mullens. From this marriage two daughters were born.
