The Spirit of France is a ferry of the British shipping company P&O Ferries that entered service in 2012 . It is used on the route from Dover to Calais .

history

The Spirit of France was commissioned on August 8, 2008 and laid down on June 8, 2010 under the hull number 1368 at STX Europe in Rauma . The launch took place on February 17, 2011. Since the ship vibrated heavily during several test drives between June and October 2011, the shipyard went to the shipyard for improvements, which delayed delivery to P&O Ferries until January 24, 2012. On February 9, 2012, it finally started ferry operations between Dover and Calais.

The Spirit of France is the youngest ferry in the P&O Ferries fleet and has an older sister ship , the Spirit of Britain, which entered service in 2011 . Both ships together are the largest ferries that have ever been used in the English Channel .
