Spitfire are a ska-punk combo from St. Petersburg founded in 1993 .
Band history
Initially the three of them turned towards rockabilly , in 1994 they started moving towards punk and ska . Jazz , funk and groove elements have enriched the diverse sound of the seven-piece band since 1996 .
In 2001, in collaboration with some musicians from Markscheider Kunst, a new project was created that focuses on these jazz elements: the St. Petersburg Jazz-Ska Review .
At the same time, the collaboration with another successful band from St. Petersburg, Leningrad, is also deepening . This band invites the Spitfire crew to their recordings and produces some records with them. At the end of 2002, the three of them toured the USA with the St. Petersburg Jazz-Ska Review .
In 2004 and 2005 they released one album each: "Thrills and Kills" and "Too good to be true". Both releases were accompanied by extensive tours that took them to Germany , among other places .
Music genre
Like other bands from St. Petersburg, Spitfire is hard to pin down on a style. They switch between the different directions seemingly effortlessly. This wealth of variants is reflected not least in a frequent participation in samplers and compilations .
various
The band members continued to form the basic line-up of the legendary ska band Leningrad .
