The only connection road to Olymbos and the main ridge of the island run west of the village . The coastal settlement of Agios Nikolaos is 1.6 kilometers away. The closest village is Mesochori about 3 kilometers west. The distance to the city of Karpathos is about 16 kilometers south.
The local community Spoa (Τοπική Κοινότητα Σπόων) occupies an area of 17,000 square kilometers in the center of the island from the island's main ridge to the coast. It borders Olymbos in the north, Mesochori in the west and Volada in the south .
administration
Shortly after the annexation of the Dodecanese to Greece, Spoa received the status of a rural community (Κοινότητα Σπόων Kinotita Spoon ). The coastal town of Agios Nikolaos to the east was recognized as a settlement in 1981. In 1997 , seven other rural communities were amalgamated to form what was then the municipality of Karpathos, now the municipality of Karpathos . The administrative reform in 2010 brought the former municipalities of the island together to form the new municipality of Karpathos (Δήμος Καρπάθου Dimos Karpathou ).
