The village of Othos ( Greek Όθος ( n. Sg. )) Is located in the south of the Greek island of Karpathos .
location
Othos is located in the center of the southern part of the island on the connecting road between the east and west coast and is 510 m above sea level. M. the highest village on the island. The village of Pyles is about 2 kilometers southwest and Volada 1.5 kilometers northeast. The distance to the city of Karpathos almost 7 kilometers southeast. The hamlet of Stes is about a kilometer to the west.
As the only local community (Τοπική Κοινότητα) on Karpathos, Othos has no access to the sea. Adjacent local communities are Pyles in the west, Volada in the northeast and with an exclave in the southeast, as well as Aperi in the east and Menetes in the south.

After the connection of the Dodecanese to Greece, Othos was recognized as a rural community (Κοινότητα Όθους Kinotita Othous ). Stes was recognized and incorporated as a settlement in 1991. In 1997 , seven other rural communities were amalgamated to form what was then the municipality of Karpathos, now the municipality of Karpathos . As a result of the administrative reform in 2010 , the former municipalities on the island were merged into the new municipality of Karpathos (Δήμος Καρπάθου Dimos Karpathou ). Since then, Othos has had the status of a local community (Τοπική Κοινότητα).

Attractions
- In Othos there is a local museum opened in 1989 as well as a small gallery by the local painter Ioánnis Chapsís († February 2010).
- The interior of the church Metamorphosis tou Sotira (Eng. Metamorphosis of the Redeemer) fascinates with the walls painted with bright and strong colors.
- The floor of the Kimissis Chapel in the middle of the village consists of artfully laid sea pebbles. Next to the chapel, fresh spring water, which is said to have healing properties, gushes over a small waterfall into a large fountain basin. The bust next to the fountain shows the folklorist Michaelides Nouaros, who was born in Othos in 1877 .
