The Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego im. Jerzego Kukuczki w Katowicach ( AWF Katowice for short ) is a public sports university in Katowice and one of six sports universities of its kind in Poland . In addition to the Polish name, it has the English name: Jerzy Kukuczka University of Physical Education in Katowice and is named after the mountaineer Jerzy Kukuczka from Katowice .
history
The Jerzy Kukuczka Sports University Katowice emerged on September 1 , 1970 from the Pedagogical University for Sports Teachers (Polish Studium Nauczycielskie Wychowania Fizycznego ). Since 1992 she has the right to award doctorates and since 1999 to carry out habilitation .
