Spreelauf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The spreelauf is a stages - Ultramarathon , a 400-km along the Spree leads. The event took place for the first time in 2000 and was repeated in 2001, 2002 and 2004. All events were organized by Ingo Schulze . In 2003 the event had to rest because the organizer was running the Trans-European Run during this time . The event has been replaced by the Deutschlandlauf since 2005 .

Henry Wehder, who grew up in the headwaters of the Spree, had the idea of organizing an ultramarathon along the Spree. He was able to win Ingo Schulze as an organizer, the only one with experience in organizing stage runs in Germany. Wehder himself took over the route exploration and marked the route on the first Spree run. He was a participant in the subsequent events.

The first run of the Spree led from the source to the mouth. Due to the lack of interest in the Berlin district of Spandau , the route was reversed the following year. The municipality of Eibau -Walddorf ensured an enthusiastic atmosphere at the finish every year with the Spreequell Festival on the Kottmar .

The route runs along the Spree Cycle Path and for the most part manages without the use of federal roads, which makes this run very different from runs such as the Germany Run and the Trans-Europe Run and thus underlines the character of a landscape run. An exception is the stage through Berlin, where some busy streets and traffic lights are on the route.
