The "permanent representation" in Berlin
Founder of the StäV : "Friedel" Drautzburg

The Permanent Representation : (short StäV a) pub in Berlin district of Mitte am Schiffbauerdamm (near the west exit of the station Friedrichstrasse to Spree ). The name alludes to the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the GDR, which existed from 1974 until German reunification in 1990 . It is decorated all around with poster-sized snapshots of well-known German politicians.

One of the owners, Friedhelm "Friedel" Drautzburg, had previously run the Schumann-Klause pub in what was then the federal capital of Bonn since 1970 . Together with his partner, Harald Grunert, who previously ran Grunert's Nachtcafé in Bonn's Kaiserstraße, he  started the campaign “Yes to Bonn - move no” in response to the decision of the German Bundestag in 1999 to move from Bonn to Berlin , but moved to Berlin in 1997 and founded the permanent representation there.

Since 2017 the new owners and hosts are Jörn Peter Brinkmann and Jan Philipp Bubinger.

The Kölsch pub sees itself as "the" representative of Rhenish culture in Berlin.

This concept is supported by the Gaffel brewery , as a co-founder of the Permanent Representation GmbH . Thus, through licensing, there are now permanent representations in:

From 2004 to 2009 there was a StäV in Leipzig ( Peterssteinweg ), until 2014 in the inner city of Cologne (Rheinufer) and from 2016 to 2017 briefly on Rudolfplatz as well as on Sylt and in Hamburg .
