Stéphane Ziani

Stéphane Ziani (born December 9, 1971 in Nantes ) is a former French football player .

The midfielder came from the youth of FC Nantes and was part of the first team from 1991. In 1993 he reached the final of the French Cup with Nantes . After testing positive for salbutamol in a doping control in April 1994 , he was banned for a month. In the 1994/95 season he played for SC Bastia , with whom he reached the final of the League Cup. After that, Ziani was each one year at Stade Rennes and Girondins Bordeaux , with whom he again moved into the final of the League Cup. Then he went to RC Lens . With the club he became French champion and finalist of the French Cup in 1998 . He then moved to Deportivo La Coruña in the Spanish Primera División . After a season he returned to France to Girondins Bordeaux. From 2000 to 2004 he was again under contract with his old hometown club FC Nantes, with whom he was able to become French champion and winner of the Supercup in 2001 . At the end of his career, from 2004 onwards, he played for Servette Geneva (Switzerland), SC Bastia and AC Ajaccio for six months .
